Improving Energy Efficiency Signature
Providing Energy-Efficient Renovations and Installing Solar Panels
img
Since 2012, we have been providing energy-efficient renovations for low-income households. By upgrading and replacing outdated heating systems, replacing lighting with LED fixtures, and replacing inefficient windows, we focused on enhancing the living conditions as well as reducing energy cost for the local community. To welfare facilities, we have been installing solar power generators to reduce energy costs and CO2 emissions. Our goal is to continuously implement environmentally friendly programs that can create bright, warm, and safe living conditions for the community.
GREEN PLANET
Biodiversity Conservation
Community Biodiversity Conservation Project
img
In 2022, we have signed an MOU agreement with Incheon Metropolitan City to 'foster local biodiversity.' Our initial program already helped to improve the habitat at Namdong Reservoir, a unique urban breeding site for the Black-faced Spoonbill, one of the flagship species in Incheon. We are going to plan and start programs to foster local biodiversity in Incheon, where various ecosystems co-exist. Furthermore, we plan to initiate projects to establish biodiversity conservation forests, aiming to preserve environments where a greater variety of organisms inhabit, including the urban park forest aimed at reducing fine dust, which has been under development since 2020.
GLOBAL COMMUNITY
Support for Domestic Multicultural Families
Immigrant Youth Settlement Support
img
Since 2015, we have been supporting 'New Dream School’ in Incheon, an alternative school for immigrant youths. The school offers a range of support programs, including Korean language education, cultural adaptation lessons, psychological care, and meals to help these youth from abroad smoothly adapt to Korean society. Additionally, we annually exhibit these students' artworks in the company lobby to raise corporate and public awareness of immigrant adolescents.
GLOBAL COMMUNITY
Overseas Social Responsibility Activities
Implementing Healthcare Program in Papua, Indonesia for Enhancing Primary Healthcare for Local CommunitiesSignature
img
Since 2017, we have been conducting programs to improve the health environment in Papua, Indonesia. Even during the travel-restricted period of COVID-19 we continued to supply medical equipment as per the local medical team's request. In 2022, we were able to resume our efforts, conducting health check-ups and treatment for over 2,000 people. Dental specialists examined the oral health conditions of the residents. We also provided education on oral hygiene, prevention of respiratory diseases, and sex education to the locals. Over time, we expect our continuous effort will have a positive effect on the overall well-being of the residents.

Children and Adolescents Educational Support
Trade Economy and Energy Environment Education in Community Childcare Centers through ‘POINTERS College Student Volunteer Program’ Signature
img
The ‘Hope Energy’ college student volunteer group, which started in 2013 to improve the educational environment around Incheon City’s Seo-gu power plant, was reborn as the ‘POINTERS’ college student volunteer group starting in 2023. We support education for a healthy future for children by adding energy and environmental education to the point classroom (POSCO International Trading Classroom) based on trade and economics education for children at the Incheon Regional Children's Center. In addition, the employee volunteer group will provide mentoring to the college student volunteer group, and the college student volunteer group will provide education to children at local children's centers, creating a virtuous cycle of educational service in which beneficiaries become volunteers.
Future Generation
Supports Healthy Growth
Integrated Support for Young Carers
img
We support overcoming the crisis of ‘family caregiver youth (young carers)’ who have difficulty maintaining their studies as well as doing housework and earning a living by caring for a sick family member. We provide integrated support covering livelihood, academics, relationships, etc. to help family care youth overcome not only the difficulties of caring themselves but also complex situations that are difficult to solve on their own, and develop dreams and confidence for the future. We aim to support the healthy growth of family care youth so that they can view their lives positively by alleviating the burden of personal care and changing the focus of their lives to themselves.

‘INTERSTELLER’ Voice Donation Volunteer Signature
img
The INTERSTELLER (POSCO INTERNATIONAL StoryTELLER) voice donation service began in 2022 to complement the language education of children from multicultural families and support the language development of school-age multicultural children. We create audio recordings for children's books using the voices of our staff, transfer them on reading devices, and donate them to family centers in Incheon along with the children's books. In addition, we are conducting various talent volunteer activities that align with the hobbies of our employees. We provide talent-sharing services in the local community, including a baseball club's baseball class at a local children's center, a photography club's photo shoot for the elderly, and an ocean cleanup activity for a skin scuba club.

Employee Community Engagement Activities
‘Serving Saturdays’ and Change My Town
img
'Serving Saturdays,' is a program where our employees volunteer for community service activities every Saturday. These activities include helping improve the habitat at Namdong Reservoir for the Black-faced Spoonbill, removing harmful plants from the Yangjaecheon ecosystem, helping with maintenance at Seoul National Cemetery, and volunteering at local animal shelters. Additionally, we organize ‘Change My Town' where our employees propose and carry out activities to address the challenges in the local community. Every year, employees from both domestic and international branches, sympathize with the difficulties faced by our local community and directly participate in volunteer work, such as distributing coal briquettes to households with heating vulnerabilities in Korea and delivering relief goods to seniors living alone in Singapore.
